Ceramics & Book Artist

I was born in Buffalo, New York where I began studying drawing and painting at the Albright Art School, now part of the Albright-Knox Art Museum. I continued my art education at Carnegie-Mellon University (BFA) and completed my graduate studies at Rutgers, the State University (Ed.D).

I have been actively involved in the field of ceramics, both teaching and exhibiting, for almost thirty years. I exhibit my work often in New Jersey as well as nationally and internationally. I am an active member of the Princeton Artists Alliance and participate in our group exhibitions. As a member of the East/West Ceramics Artists Association I recently exhibited in Seoul, Korea. While in Korea, I gave a workshop and slide presentation at Seoul National University of Technology. The 2008 East/West exhibition is in Mashiko, Japan.

As an art educator, I have taught elementary, secondary, and college students as well as life long learners. At the college level I taught ceramic hand building and two and three-dimensional design. As the Museum Educator at the Hunterdon Museum of Art I developed the Bridging the Arts curriculum for outreach art programs in elementary schools. I also give ceramic workshops which focus on various hand building techniques and monotype printing on clay.

More recently I have been creating one-of–kind artist’s books. I studied book arts at the Experimental Printmaking Institute, Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. My books are part of the recent EPI traveling exhibition to Costa Rica, Mexico and England. Two of my books will be included in the Lark book series “500 Artists Books.” I maintain my ceramic studio and RockBrook Press, where my books are bound and published, in Skillman, New Jersey.
